Victorian teachers to oppose new TAFE plans

The Age: Premier John Brumby and the Rudd Government are headed for a showdown with thousands of teachers over Victoria’s plans to radically shake up the vocational training system through increased fees, HECS-style loan schemes for TAFEs and increased competition.

TAFE teachers — who will walk off the job on Wednesday in pursuit of better pay and working conditions — have now vowed to expand their campaign nationally in a bid to thwart the Government’s plans.
