DPP at war with AFP on Mohamed Haneef

The Australian: Prosecutors assigned to the Mohamed Haneef investigation faced “extreme pressure” from Australian Federal Police officers to charge the Indian doctor, and were denied access to evidence crucial to form a judgment about the strength of the case.

In a scathing submission to the Clarke inquiry into last year’s botched terror investigation, the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions has revealed how its officers were not supplied with basic pieces of evidence - such as Dr Haneef’s record of interview and statutory declarations made by AFP officers - before appearing in court to contest his bail application.
