Unions bite back at watchdog

Brad Norington: The Rudd Government is entering politically risky territory, standing by its blunt refusal to abolish the draconian powers of John Howard’s building industry regulator before 2010.

After strong lobbying, unions have generated Kevin Rudd’s first internal revolt, as up to 40 Labor MPs back the immediate curtailment of the Australian Building and Construction Commission.
