Paul Daley: Could Afghanistan become the Rudd Government’s Vietnam? Senior government figures are asking themselves this question, following the wounding of nine of Australia’s finest soldiers - some critically - in a Taliban ambush.

In the short to medium term the Government seems more likely to bolster, rather than dilute, Australia’s military presence in Afghanistan.
