Senator Fails in Effort to Move His Corruption Trial to Alaska

The New York Times: Senator Ted Stevens, the six-term Alaska Republican, was spurned in his effort Wednesday to have his corruption trial, scheduled for next month, moved to Alaska from here.

Judge Emmet G. Sullivan of the Federal District Court here rejected arguments by Mr. Stevens’s lawyer, Brendan Sullivan, that the senator needed to be in Alaska to campaign for re-election.
