1. The Spiderwick Chronicles – July 31
   It’s no Harry Potter, but this fantasy tale about three children who move into an old Victorian mansion and discover a strange book that opens the door to an alternate world is still a great kids’ movie! Also available on Blu-Ray.

2. Stargate: Continuum – August 6
   Jack is back! There are a lot of Stargate fans out there salivating about the return of General O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) in the second direct-to-DVD Stargate movie. An early GateWorld review (don’t worry, it’s spoiler-free!) said that Continuum was the best thing that has happened to Stargate since season 7 of SG-1. Also available on Blu-Ray.

3. Futurama - The Beast With A Billion Backs – August 6
   It’s obviously the season for sci-fi DVD movies. This highly anticipated feature-length release is just the fix that Futurama fans have been waiting for! What more needs to be said?

4. Starship Troopers 3: Marauders – August 6
   Better than the second, but not as good as the first: that’s the verdict on the new direct-to-DVD entry in the Starship Troopers franchise. Also available on Blu-Ray or in a three-pack if you haven’t got the first two films.

5. Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Season 1 – August 13
   The Terminator franchise hit the small screen this year, albeit without Arnold Schwarzenegger. In the new series, which aired on Channel Nine earlier this year, Sarah Connor and her teenage son John travel to the year 2007.
