SCI FI Channel is calling “inaccurate” rumors that the second half of ‘Battlestar Galactica’s’ fourth and final season will be delayed and confirmed again that the original series will return with new episodes in January 2009.

These are the words of Edward James Olmos - otherwise known as “Battlestar Galactica’s” Admiral Adama – who, according to DoorQ, promises that the remaining episodes of the season will include some harsh adventures. For the Stargate franchise to enter a new era and attract a new audience, SCI FI network president Dave Howe believes that ‘Universe’ should update its storytelling for a new generation. “The ambition with Universe is to skew it younger than the previous two chapters and fill it with a fresh-faced cast,” he said this week, adding that the producers needed to provide “storytelling that is more for the late 2000s than it is for the 1990s.”

‘Virtuality’ is centered around what is described as the first interstellar space ship from Earth. Its 12-member crew is on a voyage twice as long as Captain Kirk’s first venture with the Enterprise, and everyone has a chance to experience a holodeck-like virtual reality program to keep them entertained.

Steven Moffat and director Hettie Macdonald won Best Dramatic Presentation-Short Form for their episode “Blink,” considered to be a “Doctor Who”-lite episode from the show’s third season. It beat out a very tough field that included the “Batlestar Galactica” telemovie “Razor”.

Executive producer David Eick told SCI FI Wire that producers have been “able to convince the network to let us air … long episodes–[to] take single episodes and make them double episodes, … [and to take] double episodes and make them quadruple episodes.”
