Fringe’s Torv Talks Exclusively

‘Thunder’ stays on top at box office

DreamWorks and Paramount’s holdover comedy “Tropic Thunder” continued to dominate at the Labor Day box office with three-day take of $11.5 million from 3,473 theaters, while 20th Century Fox’s Van Diesel sci-fi actioner “Babylon A.D.” grabbed the No. 2 spot with $9.7 million from 3,390.



McKew attacks childcare staff ratio

In the wake of celebrated children’s author Mem Fox’s claim that childcare for very young babies is “child abuse”, parliamentary secretary for early education and childcare Maxine McKew said today that a better ratio might be closer to one carer to every three children under the age of two.

Fox moves ‘Australia’ release back

“Australia” was slated to release Stateside Nov. 14, about 48-hours after its November 13 world preem Down Under, but now the Oz date will also shift to tally with the U.S. Recently, Warner Bros. moved its next “Harry Potter” movie from Nov. 21 to next summer.



Kassovitz disavows ‘Babylon A.D.’

After getting some unenthusiastic reviews (including one in Daily Variety on Aug. 21), director Mathieu Kassovitz is seeking to distance himself from the film, which opens Friday — even though the version reviewed was international version, and Fox is not releasing the film overseas.
