‘30 Rock’ cleans up at the 2008 Emmy Awards

There’ll be reason to go on celebrating post the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards for the cast of ‘30 Rock’, with the comedy series taking out the Emmy award for best comedy series for the second consecutive year. Its lead star, Tina Fey, took the award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series while it’s male lead, Alec Baldwin, won Best Actor in a Comedy Series.



Kathy Griffin signs for more ‘D-List’

News of the “My Life on the D-List” pickup came on the same day that several publications speculated that Griffin was set to ankle the comedy-reality skein that follows her everyday adventures as an actress and standup comic.



“Functionally voluntary” music may lead to blanket licenses

Griffin’s most intriguing idea, and one he’s been pitching for some time now, is a voluntary, blanket music license; essentially, bringing the collection society model to end users. In this model, consumers would pay royalties into a pot (by paying an extra monthly fee to their ISPs, for instance) and would then have access to all the music from all the labels that participate in the scheme.
