No One Ever Offered Shatner A ‘Star Trek XI’ Role

In a story that doesn’t seem to ever want to die, William Shatner responded to a report from last week from “Star Trek XI” director J.J. Abrams explaining why the Capt. Kirk actor was out of the film. Shatner said that while he is a big fan of Abrams, the truth was, no one ever offered him any kind of role in the film.

Today the latest wrinkle in the never-ending ‘Shatner in Star Trek‘ saga has been revealed. In a new interview with AMC, Star Trek director JJ Abrams reveals that there was a ‘flashback’ scene written for Shatner, but it “didn’t feel right.” Abrams also talked more about his approach to fan feedback.

Update On Life-Sized Star Trek Captain’s Chair

According to CBS the $2000 life-sized chair is a “fully operational replica” of the captain’s chair from ‘Star Trek’ The Original Series using “expert measurements and the highest quality durable materials.” This replica is actually a real piece of furniture, complete with lights, sound effects and built in phrases from the original Captain Kirk himself.
