This weekend Nicole de Boer (Deep Space Nine: Ezri Dax) became the latest Trek veteran to jump through to the ‘Gate’ franchise, appearing in Stargate Atlantis. In a new interview with Gateworld the actress talks about the experience as well as her thoughts on her time on Deep Space Nine, and the new Star Trek movie.

‘Star Trek’s’ producer/director JJ Abrams is focusing on promoting his new show ‘Fringe’ this week, but of course the subject of ‘Star Trek’ keeps coming up. In a couple of new interviews, the multi-tasking Abrams talks about how his Trek balances the fans and a new audience and how it is ‘real’ sci-fi.

With a decommissioning ceremony — as befits any great vessel — the exhibit and its replica of the starship Enterprise are closing Monday. Thousands of trekkies are “beaming up” from across the United Federation of Planets, er, the United States and around the world one last time.

According to past reports from those who worked with him, Simon Pegg will be providing much of the comic relief in the new ‘Star Trek’ movie. But in a new interview, the new Scotty makes it clear that we shouldn’t expect ’sly winks, spoofy nudges or exaggerated references’ to the be providing the laughs.

For those who may not have picked up on this yet, William Shatner is not in the new Star Trek movie, yet rumors and conjecture persist that maybe he is. But a new pair of interviews with both Shatner and Star Trek director JJ Abrams denying Shat is in the movie should be the final word on this saga.

This week was a week of number twos on a variety of fronts. In the US, Joe Biden became Barack Obama’s new sidekick, while in Australia, the minor parties in the Senate geared up to take on their new roles as second fiddles. Meanwhile, in the entertainment world, ‘Stargate Atlantis’ was cancelled and replaced by ‘Stargate Universe’.

TrekMovie previously reported that JJ Abrams has completed a first rough cut of his ‘Star Trek movie’ and now it appears that he is showing it off. ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’ director Kevin Smith was a guest on KROQ’s Kevin and Bean show this morning and the subject of the new Star Trek movie came up.
