Cast and crew of both Stargate series, along with millions of fans worldwide, were shocked to learn of the passing of veteran actor Don S. Davis earlier this summer. The man who brought to life the ‘Stargate SG-1′ character of “General George Hammond” clearly had an effect on the people who met him.

The Atlantis movie will air later in 2009, and will be followed by more adventures from the lost city of the Ancients — if the first is a success. “I can’t predict whether an ongoing series of Atlantis-based movies will prove successful,” producer Joseph Mallozzi said. “However, if the performance of the two SG-1 movies is anything to go by, the audience is out there.”

Earth discovers that the Stargate’s mysterious ninth chevron can be utilized to gate directly to the Ancient ship, the ‘Destiny’ opening up literally the whole universe to explore. But the team will soon discover that they have no way back to Earth, and must ride the ship on its programmed course. The show will go to air in 2009.

The Numbers has Stargate: Continuum debuting in the number three spot, behind Harold and Kumar and 21. Continuum is estimated to have sold approximately 276,677 DVD units in its first week, earning about $4.8 million.

The Cheyenne Mountain Division became operational in 1966 and is located more than 2,400 feet below Cheyenne Mountain. Its current mission includes providing warning of ballistic missile or air attacks against North America, and it assists the air sovereignty mission for the United States and Canada.

Hayes’ score for “Shaft,” which won two Grammys and the Oscar for song, opened the doors for black songwriters in Hollywood. In later years the musician provided the voice for the popular character “Chef” on the animated comedy “South Park” and also guest-starred in MGM’s sci-fi series “Stargate: SG-1″.

Whereas March’s Stargate: The Ark of Truth was meant to tie up the story from the last two years of the television show, Continuum is much more of a stand-alone story — a wild adventure with time travel, tons of amazing special effects, and a host of bad guys back from the grave.
