The decision to take a breather came after executive producer Howard Gordon expressed displeasure with the direction of the season seven’s final six episodes. The producers will take the time off to rethink the show’s ultimate direction and rewrite scripts. 20th Century Fox said the show should be back in production by Oct. 9.

The ‘Stargate SG-1′ and ‘Stargate Atlantis’ director is up for recognition for his work on the Atlantis Season Four episode “Trio.” Wood also directed the recent direct-to-DVD release of ‘Stargate: Continuum’, which featured unprecedented Arctic footage, as well as the raising of a Los Angeles-class submarine.

Written by Jane Espenson and directed by star Edward James Olmos, the as-yet-untitled new film will be set before the events of the original ‘Battlestar Galactica’ miniseries and will focus on three Cylons.

Wahlberg is an executive producer of the Emmy-nominated Entourage, though he’s only once appeared in front of the camera, in the drama’s very first episode. He’ll make a second appearance in the upcoming fifth season.
