Among the pickups were two comedy-driven, New York-based police procedurals: the Nathan Fillion starrer “Castle” and ensembler “The Unusuals.” On the comedy side, the Victor Fresco-penned laffer “Better Off Ted” scored an order, as did the Alyssa Milano sitcom “Single With Parents.”

‘Virtuality’ is centered around what is described as the first interstellar space ship from Earth. Its 12-member crew is on a voyage twice as long as Captain Kirk’s first venture with the Enterprise, and everyone has a chance to experience a holodeck-like virtual reality program to keep them entertained.

The pilot was directed by Francis Lawrence and produced by Erwin Stoff, who worked with Lawrence on the films ‘Constantine’ and ‘I Am Legend’. Ian McShane, who stars in the upcoming drama, described his character as a modern-day King Saul in an updated version of the biblical story of King David’s rise to power.
