Blog: MEPIS is coming back
Aug 28th, 2008 | By David Harper | Category: LinuxSteven J. Vaughan-Nichols: I’m pleased to report that one of my favorite desktop Linux distributions, MEPIS, is returning. The beta of the next version, MEPIS 8, is now available.
I’m been using mepis solidily (when not doing my tax, (or using vpn)) since December.
Is there any reason for changing,
KDE4 or the recent ubuntu look new and shiny,
and firefox 3 hasn’t turned up in my enabled repos
but then ff2 does all i need
and I guess it’s because it’s so stable I’ve kept using mepis
so do i just wait for mepis 8 …?
I usually subscribe to two theories:
1. Don’t touch beta software for actual work; and
2. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
I think KDE4 still needs to mature a bit before it’s ready for everyday use.
